bomb-along 2005
Gerard Moroney/Charlie McEnery were the 2005 victors in their Subaru Impreza WRC. Rob/Paula Alderman were second in their Ford Escort Mk II and Andy Corner/James Greenwood third in their Peugeot 205GTi.
First of all, a big thank you to everybody for entering this year’s Centenary Bomb-Along Stages – another competitive event of our Centenary Year. We hope that you enjoyed the event and offer our congratulations to all the award winners. Our commiserations to those that didn't finish - we hope you will try again. Also, of course, a big THANK YOU to all the officials, marshals, radio crews and safety personnel for their help and assistance on the event – without them it would not be possible.
As mentioned in the Regulations, this year the Club are again supporting the Linda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital and through your generosity, with the contribution of £10 per car, an additional £10 from late entries, additional donations from some crews and ‘cash match’ from Cadbury Trebor Bassett, the event raised around £700 for this worthwhile cause. Thank you all.
The last round of this year’s Oakington Challenge, which includes all rallies held at Oakington Airfield, is the Oakington Loose and Tarmac Stages, organised by Green Belt MC and Wickford AC on Sunday 25th September 2005. Contact Chris Deal on 020 8803 0675 or 07940 819789 if you do not already have the Regulations.
Our next event at Oakington will be The Oakington Stages, 2006, which will be on Sunday 5th February 2006. Before that we have The South of England Tempest Rally, the last round of the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship, on 4/5th November and The Rockingham Stages, a multi-use stage rally at Rockingham Motor Speedway, on 10/11th December 2004. This year’s event at Rockingham is a two-day event over 10 stages (with 2 in the dark on Saturday evening). Last year the 75 capacity entry filled within 7 days. This year the maximum entry has been extended to 100 but, even so, if you want to enter this unique event be sure to get your entry in quickly. Regulations for all these events will be available from the websites – see www.mcac.co.uk for links to the rally sites.
