Christmas Buffet and Social Evening 22nd December: Our usual pre-Christmas get together was well received by the numerous club members who attended. Good food and ale was the order of the day so our thanks, as usual, go to Tony Phillips and John Price at the bar for their efforts. Oh, and the champers went down very well thank you very much.
December Partner's Evening on the 1st 13 crews assembled in the club house for the 'Christmas Marathon' comprising of 100 stages, er, sorry, questions. A mixture of pictures, multiple-choice and straight questions over many category's but mainly travel, science, geography and general knowledge. The questions ranged from 'obvious to 'awful' and anything over 60 was a good score and over 70 was really 'bright'. The winners were Kevin and Kathleen Dawson with score of 79.5 points with Andy Greenland a close second on 74.5 points and Rob Brook/Mike Cawthra third with 66 points, a mere 0.5 points ahead of Gordon and Maria Phillips! Thanks to Tom Ryan for the organisation.
November Partner's Evening on the 3rd was the Club's annual 'Fireworks and BBQ' evening.
October Partner's Evening on the 6th: Brian Catt's Quiz was won by Pete and Malc Farmer - apparently with help from Adrian L'Estrange which probably provides the most logical explanation for the win! The proposed 'Club Treasure Hunt around the grounds' will now take place at a later date. Thanks go to Brian for covering at short notice.
September's Partner's Evening on the 1st was Volley Ball organised Andrew Stacey
July Partner's Evening on the 7th saw an informative presentation by members of the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership: Opinions about Speed Cameras vary considerably but they do cut deaths and injuries. Further information can be found on the TVSRP's website at www.saferroads.org. Shame we didn't get chance to have a drive of the unmarked traffic car!!
June Partner's Evening: A motley crew of reprobates mixed with some human faces to play out a feverish game of softball at Gerrards Cross. As you would expect, no player seemed to have just average ability - the batsmen (sorry, batspersons!) were either lucky to swing the bat anywhere near the ball (like me!) or of the ilk that tended to simply smash it away into the far distance sometimes combining the effort with an attempt at decapitating the bowler! And then there was the fielding....... ! Pete Farmer organised the evening whilst John Price was behind the barbeque.
May Partner's Evening on the 5th was to be Off Road Driving organised by Kevin and Kathleen Dawson. Unfortunately, however, the event was rained off.
April Partner's Evening on the 7th was Keys Kwick Kwiz organised by Chris Keys.
March Partner's
Evening on the 3rd was a MCAC Regalia Fashion Show. The updated range of MCAC clothing
was successfully launched at the Club on Wednesday 3rd March. Photos of the
event can be seen on the Regalia page along with order
information. For
February Partner's Evening on the 4th was aPub Games Evening organised by Tom Ryan.
The 2004 Annual Dinner & Awards evening was held at Gerrards Cross on Saturday 31st January. The evening was a great success and pictures from the event can be seen here. Some narrative and identities will be added in due course.
January Partner's Evening on the 7th: 'Dawson's Delights' quiz, organised by Kevin and Kathleen Dawson, was won by Andy Greenland, Graham Samuel and Mike Cawthra with John Roseblade collecting the booby prize for second last place. Download the Quiz and Answers to have a go yourself.
