MEMBER'S QUESTIONAIR! Club Nights! In the last year or so there has been a significant drop in the numbers attending our Wednesday Club Nights. As a result, in recent months, it has not been financially viable to open the bar and we need to review our plans going into 2010. We have put together a short questionnaire regarding club nights and we would be grateful if you would kindly return it to us with your comments. This Questionnaire can be emailed back to Tony Phillips or, if you wish, sent by post.
MCAC Life Members Survey: With a previous magazine, we sent out a letter to those members who have been given Life Membership. This includes the members of Hampton and District MC, who joined us on the demise of their own club. Many have replied, but a number have not. We will be publishing a few stories about those who are still involved in the sport, and are sending them new Membership Cards valid for the next 10 years. Those that have not replied will receive a card valid for only one year in the hope that they will reply to our original letter, and be granted a further membership period. Brian Catt (12.11.09).
The Club would like to congratulation Mark Davies and Lindsey Hazleman on the birth of their son, Joshua Michael Davies who arrived yesterday morning weighing 9lbs 3ozs (03.11.09).
Council would like to remind members that to qualify for an award in the Club's various championships, you must write an article for insertion in the club magazine. The next issue is due very shortly so please send your articles to Tony Phillips as soon as possible (02.11.09).
Paul Hopkinson managed to win his very first bit of silver wear in racing for coming 1st in class in a VERY wet Oulton Park Gold Cup 1hr endurance race over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. Congratulations from us all (10.09.09).
Tony Phillips has sent over the Aug/Sept/Oct issue of The Middlesex Magazine which has now been uploaded and is available via the link on the sidebar. We are still looking for a magazine editor so if you are interested please contact Tony (17.08.09).
The Tony Phillips penned May/June/July issue of The Middlesex Magazine has now been uploaded and is available via the link on the sidebar. We are still seeking someone to fill the position the magazine editor so if you are interested please contact Tony. (11.04.09).
Karting Event in June: We are organising a club Karting evening at Colnbrook indoor circuit near Heathrow. Circuit is 500m with a long flyover and the karts look quick. We have two options:
1 For £26 per person, 60 lap team challenge. Two drivers with swops. Race would last 50 minutes or so. Two drivers per team. Minimum number of teams 5, maximum 12. Or:
2 For £50 per person, 80 lap endurance challenge. You drive throughout (it’ll be tiring!). In both cases you get practice / qualifying runs too. Minimum age is 16 which seems a bit unfair, but then I don’t make their rules! Please let Mike Cawthra know your interest and preference.
The 'Not The Hunters Scatter' 16th May Cancelled! Well its cancellation was at least foreseen! Over three attempts to run the event, the combined entries were not enough to justify it going ahead (and some of those were repeat entries!). It seems that there just isn't enough enthusiasm in the club these days be it standing for Council or even just attending Club Nights. Let's hope the summer sunshine improves things as we see another event fall by the wayside.(14.05.09)
As you will be aware, Pete Farmer resigned his position as Magazine Editor at the recent AGM leaving the seat vacant at present. We hope to resolve this position soon but, in the meantime, please send magazine articles, photos, jokes, complaints etc to to either Tony Phillips or Brian Catt (08.05.09).
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 22nd April 2009. The Club's AGM was held at Gerrards Cross Sports Club on Wednesday. Kevin Fowler has rejoined the Council having been elected to the position of Competition Secretary and Langley Response's Paul Duckmanton joins the Council for the first time - congratulations go to both. In addition, our thanks go to Peter Nathan and Pete Farmer who have now resigned from the Council.
The March/April copy of The Middlesex Magazine has now been uploaded and is available via the link on the sidebar. This is the last issue to be edited by Pete Farmer who resigns with effect from the forthcoming AGM. Fancy a go at the job? If so contact Tony Phillips who will be taking over the reigns in the meantime (06.04.09).
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 22nd April 2009 at 8.30pm. This is your chance to make your contribution to the running of the Club and, hopefully, volunteer to serve on the Council. If you feel like filling one of the vacant places on the Council, Andy Greenland needs to receive any nominations by the 18th.
Pete Farmer informs me that the next issue of The Middlesex Magazine is due in just over three weeks time and so far he has not got any articles what-so-ever. Unless the MiddleWick Stages generates a flurry of activity............(19.02.09)
The credit crunch and recent adverse weather has obviously deterred many marshals from venturing out in recent weeks. Add to that the typo in the marshal's contact email address for the Middlewick Stages and you get even less! So, it's sorry chaps and back to school then for me (13.02.09).
On Saturday 31st January the Club's Annual Dinner-Dance and Presentation of Awards took place at Stockley Park Golf Club, Heathrow. Report and photos now uploaded. As usual, our thanks go to Peter and Sarah Nathan for the organisation.
The January/February copy of The Middlesex Magazine is now available (see sidebar). Hard copy in the post shortly (19.01.09)
The 'Not The Hunters Scatter' 16th May. Apologies but the previous report confirming the 15th is totally wrong - it's actually Saturday 16th!!!! Not sure where it went wrong - as I do the website I'll blame Pete but no doubt he will contra that in the forthcoming Mag! (17.01.09)
The 'Not The Hunters Scatter' 15th May is actually the postponed Hunters Scatter from the end of last year. We felt it best to disassociate the event from the Hunters Moon origins so we have given it a completely new name! Don't worry though, organiser Pete Farmer assures us that he will try and ensure that event runs as similar to the Hunters as is possible. Regs will be available nearer the time.
