Suzuki GB to sponsor Tempest Rally
20 June 2008
Suzuki GB PLC is delighted to announce that it is to
become title sponsor of the Aldershot-based South of
England Tempest Rally due to run on 8th November 2008.
The event, to be known as the Suzuki Tempest South of
England Rally, is the final round of the Suzuki Swift
Sport Cup and BRC Challenge rally series as well as
being part of the English Rally Championship. The rally
will continue with its unique two-wheel and four-wheel
drive format which will be based at the Pegasus Village
Service Area adjacent to the spectator stage at Rushmoor
Arena area once again.
With Suzuki’s investment, a large temporary structure
will be built to centralise the event including
scrutineering, administration and the after-rally party.
Indeed, it was the compact nature of the event, with the
service park and adjacent spectator stage that led
Suzuki to join forces with the organisers.
Suzuki Swift Sport Cup Championship Manager Ian
Phillipson said, ‘The Tempest Rally is already a great
event. We are working with the organisers to build on
that and will create an event with great stages, a
compact route and a party atmosphere.’ He continued,
‘The Tempest Rally is the last round of the inaugural
Swift Sport Cup and we are determined to celebrate that
fact.’
Tempest Rally Event Manager Barry Guess said, ‘We’re
delighted to have Suzuki on board. They’re putting a lot
into our sport and should be commended for that. Their
help will mean we can make the event bigger and better
than ever this year.’
Over the coming weeks there will be more announcements
regarding other attractions and plans for the event.
